“Some of Us Is All of That” Beaded hair is back. Hair beads are an accessory or decoration added to a hair style that adds style, culture, and beauty. Like the Afro hair style, they have been warn since before the 1960s. Tres Mali, like Diana Ross, also has her own natural hair style.

Our Diamonds: African-American Parishners 75 Years of Service
75 years of service, remembering the slavery bans,
In these years we also own land,
From their strength, faith, and perseverance we also say we can.
Some hand writing is on the wall, we follow Jesus, our writing is in the sand.
The wisdom our Parishners offer people go from “Bathsheba to Dan”.
Because of their contributions to our lives, we pray together with faith and say our Amen’s.
To their Leadership we ran.
Positive thoughts, hopes & dreams for us to develop they gave us a hand.
To enjoy their smiles, we looked at the women or man.
OUR DIAMONDS!!!!!
The brilliance out shines all.
The character like a diamond, was cut with each fall.
And then lifted up by such Saints as Paul!!!!!
This poem is written at the request of St. Mary Magdalene Church’s African-American Ministries in Honor of Parishners 75 years old.

The yellow star slowly emerges above the mound of vanity
Fetid vapors of forgotten objects assault the nose
existing in the rotting world, shadows of small humanity
Waste foragers consigned to relieving family woes
All live for the next treasure truck to belch its collection
The material jungle drones on without the slightest clue
Castoff luxuries all stored in lines of plastic barrels
Cans and broken fetishes are the only objects of value
None notice when a child dies among the mound’s perils
A life of lost value destined to find others waste
Castoff luxuries all stored in lines of plastic barrels
It is time for the truth to be faced
The yellow star slowly emerges above the mound of vanity
A life of lost value destined to find other’s waste
Existing in the rotting world, shadows of small humanity
